Two interesting mid 20th Century models contained in glass bottles - Grounded Hurricane aircraft with a pilot and onlookers within rural landscape, and a Naval vessel, tug boat and submarine passing a coastal town, each 10.5ins long (bottle), circa 1960s £80-120 Provenance: Made by Mr Sid Philpott, the vendor's uncle. Mr. Philpott fought in France in the trenches during World War I and was greatly affected by his experience. He started to construct scratch built models contained in glass bottles soon after the cessation of hostilities in 1918 as a way of coming to terms with the horrors he saw during that conflict. He continued to make these models right up until his death in the early 1970s
