Covered with a thick glaze of milky-blue tone thinning to mushroom colour at the rim, and decorated with a single brilliant purple splashes to the interior, unglazed foot ring, 17.5cm diameter.

Of rectangular section, the cover skilfully inlaid with delicate sheets of mother-of-pearl depicting eight bats carrying flowering or fruiting branches, around a central medallion of archaistic scrollwork surrounding a five petal flower head, the branches inlaid with malachite, carnelian and coral, the wood of a warm dark brown colour with characteristic streaks, 9 x 16 x 26cm.
