NB: David Hinge was born in Newcastle in 1932 and after a number of jobs in theatres and the security industry, began exhibiting in 1966. He was responsible for organising the still-popular Armstrong Bridge Open Air Sunday Exhibitions, started in 1969 and running his own Pentangle Gallery from 1975 until 1981. In 1997 he left Tyneside and retired to the South Coast of England where he died c.2000. The Armstrong Bridge Exhibitions which he started, remained a popular venue for aspiring Northumbrian artists.
