Note: The engraved arms are those of Thomas Gale – Professor of Greek at Cambridge University. He went on to become Master of St. Paul’s School and published works on Greek authors. In 1675 he obtained a doctorate in Divinity and thereupon left for York where he became Dean of the Minster.
