Click to view full image... 1793-1840 NGSM Algiers clasp to B. Prust Midshipman, edge bruise or possible repair above HIP of rank, otherwise better than very fine. Bartholomew Prust entered the Navy 7/6/1810, 3rd Class Volunteer on La Nymphe on the Leith Station. He attained the rating of Midshipman soon afterwards and served in the Baltic, Channel, North Seas, West Indies and North America in the Ardent, Asia and Tonnant. He then joined the Superb in which he fought under Captain Charles Ekins at the Battle of Algiers 27/8/16. He subsequently served on Revolutionnaire in the Mediterranean and was promoted Lieutenant in March 1822. He served from July 1827 to 1831 in the Coast Blockade on Ramillies and Talavera, after which he was placed on half pay. Ex DNW 2012. (See photo) (Y) £1600

With 2 copied pages of service record, death certificate and research, he was born in Sherbourne, Dorset, enlisted 9/8/1803 aged 19, he was wounded in the head at Oporto 12/5/09, wounded in right leg and thigh at Talavera 28/7/09, discharged 5/2/22 due to wasting and diseased state of the absorbents of his right leg and thigh and general bad health, he died 2/2/55. He served Captain Irving's 1st Coy at Waterloo where the regiment suffered 252 casualties from 557 present. (See photo) (R) £3000

It would appear that Whittington took his discharge in India and thereby had his medal issued by the Calcutta Mint, hence officially engraved and therefore scarcer to the regiment. Ex Spink 1991. With 13 copied pages of service record, he was born in Cookstown, Co Tyrone, enlisted 21/1/1831, promted Cpl 1/9/35, Sgt 1/8/36, reduced to Pte 29/5/39, he was wounded by a Matchlock ball at Hyderabad on 24th March 1843, discharged 28/11/43 as a result of the wound.   1853 South Africa Medal to Drumr Stepn Carrick 6th Regt heavy contact marks and bruising, fair. Only 8 drummers on the roll. With 2 pages of typed muster extracts, enlisted 17/4/49 aged 15, Cape from Apr 1849, to India 20/12/57, died in service in Rawalpindi 26/12/69. Also issued an Indian Mutiny Medal no clasp as a Drummer, roll states engaged at the Battle of Baraowu. (R) £300

Click to view full image... Light Brigade Charger's killed in action 1854 Crimea Medal 2 clasps Alma, Balaklava officially impressed to A. Holliday 13th Dragoons, some light solder residue by claw, about very fine. Algernon Holliday was born circa 1827 in Cheltenham, enlisted in Bath 1850 declared age 20, killed in action during The Charge of the Light Brigade on 25th October 1854 and is commemorated on the Cheltenham Memorial in front of the Queen's Hotel. He embarked for the Crimea on the Mary Anne and prior to the charge was in Scutari Hospital. He is confirmed as a Charger in all published works and with copy of medal roll and London Gazette confirming killed in action. Also entitled to Sebastopol clasp issued on a separate roll. Only 12 members of the regiment were killed in the charge.<\t><\n>Sold with his brother's 1849 Punjab Medal no clasp to C. Holliday 3rd Lt Dragns and QV Army small reverse lettering LSGC to 1873 Farr Sergt Chas Holliday 3rd Hussars nearly very fine. With 3 copied pages of service record, Charles Holliday was born in Badworth, Cheltenham, enlisted 5/6/44 aged 20, served in India for 5 years, promoted Farr Sgt 4/2/60, discharged after 24 years service 6/10/68. With 5 copied pages of service record, Thomas Waite was born in Woodstock, enlisted 14/7/41 aged 22, served West Indies, Canada, Crimea and India, discharged 14/8/61 medically unfit for further service, medals listed in character and conduct. Leitch 78th Highlanders minor scratching to Mutiny edge, odd small edge bruise, very fine. With typed muster extract and copied rolls, John Leitch joined Depot at Chatham 10/11/1850, embarked Gravesend for India 31/7/51, muster shows service at Mohamera (Persia) April 1857, he died of sunstroke on 20th August 1857 as part of Havelock's fighting to relieve Cawnpore and Lucknow.
