Click to view full image...Click to view full image... 1793-1814 MGSM 2 clasps Talavera, Vittoria and 1815 Waterloo Medal to William Brake 28th Foot (Waterloo re-named Willm Brake 28th Regiment Foot) very fine. With 2 copied pages of service record, death certificate and research, he was born in Sherbourne, Dorset, enlisted 9/8/1803 aged 19, he was wounded in the head at Oporto 12/5/09, wounded in right leg and thigh at Talavera 28/7/09, discharged 5/2/22 due to wasting and diseased state of the absorbents of his right leg and thigh and general bad health, he died 2/2/55. He served Captain Irving's 1st Coy at Waterloo where the regiment suffered 252 casualties from 557 present. (See photo) (R) £3500

Click to view full image... 1815 Waterloo Medal to Thomas Fairclough 2nd Batt 44th Reg Foot several small edge knocks, nearly very fine. He served in Captain Brugh's company at Waterloo. The battalion was heavily involved at Quatre Bras where it suffered heavy casualties when attacked by French Lancers before being able to form a square and Ensign Christie saved the colours from being captured by a Lancer. Total casualties for Quatre Bras and Waterloo were 20 killed and 165 wounded out of 455 unit strength, approximately 40% casualty rate. He is not listed on the MGSM roll. (See photo) (Y) £2200

Click to view full image... 1815 Waterloo Medal to Thomas Chadwick 16th or Queen's Light Drag, replacement ring, very fine. With 2 copied pages of service record, he was born in Rochdale, enlisted 18/10/1793 aged 19, discharged on a reduction of the establishment 1/11/18, papers state he served in the Peninsula War and at the Battle of Waterloo. There is no record of him on the MGSM roll, so presumably he died before 1847. (See photo) (R) £1600

Click to view full image... 1815 Waterloo Medal to Edward Parry 1st Batt 4th Reg Foot good fine, clip slightly loose. With copied roll, he served in Captain Shaw's No 1 Company. The regiment suffered 134 casualties out of 669 present. (See photo) (Y) £1600

Click to view full image... 1842 China War Medal to C.R. Ilderton Captain 98th Regiment Foot, heavy bruising to rank, polished thus nearly fine, with buckle mounting bar. With typed and copied research, Charles Richard Ilderton was born in 1813, purchased his Ensign in 98th Foot 22/6/32, Lieut 30/1/35 and Capt 4/10/39. The 98th served in South Africa until 1837 and then returned to England. In 1841 they were sent to Hong Kong for the China Campaign in which they were present at the attack and capture of Chin Kiang Foo and the landing before Nankin. He retired by sale of his commission in 1846 at which point he was the senior Captain in the regiment. He died in Morpeth 3/11/80 and left an estate under the value of £1,500. Sold with photos of his grave and copied family trees etc. (See photo) (R) £900

With 4 copied pages of service record and IGSM roll, William Raines was born in Shepton Mallet, enlisted 11/2/1839 aged 18, served 4 1/2 years in China and 10 years India, promoted Cpl 1/12/40, Sgt 1/1/44, reduced Pte 1/11/51, promoted Cpl 17/4/58, discharged 4/9/60 due to fever caused by length of service in tropical climates, also issued an 1854 India GSM North West Frontier clasp. Click to view full image... 1843 Punniar Star to John Richardson 50th Queen's Own Reg, original hook, rank erased, a few knocks, good fine. John Richardson was wounded during the Battle of Ferzeshuhur on 22nd December 1845 and died of his wounds on 4th January 1846. He was also present at Moodkee. With typed muster extract and Sutlej medal roll, he enlisted in London 3/6/41, arrived China 1842, arrived Cawnpore Mar 1843, Punniar Oct 1843 to Mar 1844. (See photo) (R) £550

With typed muster extract history and copied musters, William Taylor was born in Rockcorry, enlisted 7/11/53 aged 17, former trade weaver, served Crimea Dec 1854 to Jun 1856, then served Aldershot and went absent 10/3/57 and no further trace. Leitch 78th Highlanders minor scratching to Mutiny edge, odd small edge bruise, very fine. With typed muster extract and copied rolls, John Leitch joined Depot at Chatham 10/11/1850, embarked Gravesend for India 31/7/51, muster shows service at Mohamera (Persia) April 1857, he died of sunstroke on 20th August 1857 as part of Havelock's fighting to relieve Cawnpore and Lucknow. Discharged 3/12/78. Papers state also issued Indian Mutiny Medal, only roll found for 2 Rifle Bde lists a Michael Mulvey No 44 and roll marked joined April 1858, which ties in exactly with his arrival in India, possibly a service number error when list compiled.
