RARE ROYAL COPENHAGEN VASE - 1938 a special commission, the vase made in 1938 for Christian Eff on the occasion of his 70th birthday. With panels on either side, one of his childhood home in Kolding, and the other of his private villa built in 1906. The pierced lid dated, 1868 & 1938, 2 August, and with painted sprigs of flowers and gilded decoration. Marked, Royal Copenhagen mark, APW. 19ins. (49cms.) high *This vase comes with a letter from Royal Copenhagen detailing the research they had conducted on this piece. Christian Eff (1868-1953) was a very important man in Kolding, and was a Consul, Grocer & Coffee Merchant. £300-500

LARGE BRONZE OF CECIL RHODES - JOHN TWEED a full length bronze of Cecil John Rhodes, the figure mounted on a square base. Signed, John Tweed, April 18 and date (difficult to read), and with a letter of provenance. 19ins. (49cms.) high *John Tweed (1869-1933) was born in Glasgow and executed the national memorial to Lord Kitchener on Horse Guards Parade, and a memorial to Cecil Rhodes in Bulawayo. The letter states, 'This sculptors model of the memorial, erected in Bulawayo, Rhodesia, was given to me in 1964 by his daughter Dr Lendal Tweed in memory of her brother Rathlin John Clinton Tweed (1900-1964), my friend and colleague for many years in India. £200-400
