RARE ROYAL COPENHAGEN VASE - 1938 a special commission, the vase made in 1938 for Christian Eff on the occasion of his 70th birthday. With panels on either side, one of his childhood home in Kolding, and the other of his private villa built in 1906. The pierced lid dated, 1868 & 1938, 2 August, and with painted sprigs of flowers and gilded decoration. Marked, Royal Copenhagen mark, APW. 19ins. (49cms.) high

*John Tweed (1869-1933) was born in Glasgow and executed the national memorial to Lord Kitchener on Horse Guards Parade, and a memorial to Cecil Rhodes in Bulawayo. The letter states, 'This sculptors model of the memorial, erected in Bulawayo, Rhodesia, was given to me in 1964 by his daughter Dr Lendal Tweed in memory of her brother Rathlin John Clinton Tweed (1900-1964), my friend and colleague for many years in India. £200-400
