  A Chinese Export Lacquered Sewing Box: 19th century, of hexagonal shape. Richly and carefully decorated in gilt on black ground. The sides bearing a continuous motif of lion dogs holding Buddhist symbols between two bands of leaf motifs. The lid decorated with a central battle scene encircled by dragons chasing flaming pearls and further embellished with an outer band of small medallions with scenes of figures in a garden amidst leafy scrolls. With two gilt metal loop handles to the sides and fitted drawer. Supported by four paw-shaped feet.
