Click to view full image... 1793-1814 MGSM 2 clasps Sahagun and Benevente, Toulouse to Francis Davis 18th Light Dragoons several small edge bruises, otherwise very fine. With 2 copied pages of service record and other research, he was born in Morcott, Rutland 9/8/1775, served in Rutland Fencible Cavalry 10/6/1794 to 21/3/1800, enlisted 22/3/1800 in 18th Light Dragoons which in 1807 became 18th Hussars, discharged 20/9/14 aged 40 in consequence of being nearly worn out, married Rebecca Fox in Morcott 6/11/18, by 1841 living in Pilton, Rutland, died 30/3/48 aged 72 and is buried in Pilton Churchyard. There are only 6 medals with this clasp combination to the regiment. (See photo) (R) £1800

With 11 copied pages of service papers, Robert Taylor was born in Dorking, enlisted 2/5/11, served 2 years in Peninsula and Canada for 11 years, he was imprisoned 8 times, discharged after 22 years 8/7/34, impaired intellect, attempted suicide twice, conduct described as drunken and irregular. With copied roll, David Henderson earned the medal serving on HMS Styx, roll marked "Sent to Waterloo 1/2/56." HMS Styx was a First Class wooden Paddle Sloop and was engaged in the movement of troops and stores along the South African coast in the 1850-53 Frontier War. (See photo) (R) £350

With 4 copied pages of service record, he enlisted 6/9/42, wounded in left leg at the Battle of Inkermann 5/11/54 where he was awarded the DCM, discharged 29/9/63. With typed research and medal roll presented in professionally produced blue cloth hardback folder with gold lettering Robert Hanneford Coldstream Guards. Name is spelt Hanneford on rolls, Robert Hanneford born in Harberton, enlisted 13/4/52 and killed in Action at the Battle of Inkermann 5th November 1854 where the battalion suffered 84 killed and 143 wounded.
