This notes for use at the canteen run by W.W.Runciman & Co (Ineson 191) after the capture of Boers at the battle of Elandsgaate on the 21st October 1899 it was realized that no provision had been made to house prisoners of war and a camp was established at Belle Vue, Simon's town, on the 4th February 1900. An Exceptional Kruger Portrait Set

  De Nationale Bank der Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek, a complete specimen set, 189- (c.1892), specimen £1, series letter "A", the bottom right corner clipped by the printer for security, £5, series letter "B", £10, series letter "C", £20, series letter "D", £50 series letter "E", £100, series letter "F", all specimens and without serial numbers. They are the most famous notes from South Africa, featuring the portrait of Oom Paul Kruger, the founder of the Boer state (PA. 47, 48, etc), an exceptionally rare set of which are only two sets known in private hands.
