Joseph Williamson was an eminent watch and clock maker in the late 17th/early 18th century. Apprenticed in 1686 and became Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1724. He was the watchmaker to the King of Spain and claimed the invention of equation mechanism in a paper to the Royal Society.
