An early 20th Century oak longcase clock of large proportions retailed by The Association of Diamond Merchants Ltd, 6 Grand Hotel Buildings, Trafalgar Square, London, the shaped brass dial with silvered chapter ring with raised Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and twin dials for chime/silent and indicator for Westminster and Whittington chimes, the arch showing phases of the moon on a gilt brass ground boldly engraved with leaf scroll ornament to the eight day three train movement striking and chiming on five gongs and eight bells, contained in case in the Art Nouveau manner, the hood with shaped cresting inset with embossed copper frieze panel and conforming lower panel, and with shaped and fretted uprights, the trunk door and sides inset with leaded Gothic pattern glazed panels, on flared base with chamfered front supports and bracket feet, 111ins high £3000-4000 Provenance: Purchased for Mockbeggar House, Mockbeggar Farm, Cliffe, Rochester, Kent in 1905 and remained in the same house until 2014
