A Rare Eight Day Oak Longcase Clock, signed Geo Mills of Ripon, circa 1720, caddied top, arched moulded trunk door, 12-inch square brass dial with a Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed, matted centre with seconds and date aperture, movement with four finely turned ringed pillars, anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, 220cm high George Mills was working in Alnwick in 1690's and then moved to Sunderland in 1700. He eventually moved to Ripon around 1710 until circa 1730. He is known to have made the Ripon cathedral clock in 1724. A similar clock can be seen in "Clockmakers of Northern England", pg. 44. This clock is illustrated on the front cover of "Ripons Clockmaker" by David F. Severs. £1500 - 1800 |

A Good Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, in a Gillows style case, signed Joshua Harrocks, Lancaster, circa 1760, broken arched top with a central ball finial, blind fret borders, nicely figured arched trunk door flanked by stop fluted pilasters, quatre form moulded plinth with canted corners and matching feet, 13-inch arched brass dial with a Roman and Arabic silvered chapter ring scroll decorated centre with seconds and a date aperture, arch with a painted hunting scene and signed above on a silvered arched plaque, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 243cm high Joshua Horrocks is recorded as working for Robert Parkinson in Lancaster by 1746. He became a Freeman of Lancaster in 1749. In 1766 he was working in Pudding Lane, Lancaster before moving to Ermont Bridge in 1771. He housed his finest clocks in Gillows mahogany cases. £3000 - 4000 |

A Fine Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Henry Hindley, circa 1760, adapted to make the caddied top detachable, scroll and floral gilt decorated border, side viewing glazed panels, arched trunk door flanked with canted corners, 12-inch arched brass dial with a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed, matted centre with seconds dial, date dial in the arch, movement with four tulip shaped pillars, anchor escapement with rack striking on a bell, 239cm high Henry Hindley (1701-1771), born near Wigan and moved to work in Petergate, York in 1731. A very fine and talented clockmaker of his time who excelled in making complicated clockwork year duration, complex calendarwork, bracket and turret clocks. In 1750 he made a clock for York Minster. £4000 - 6000 |

Rare Bessarabian Kilim Eastern Europe The ivory field of large flowering plants around a central flowerhead enclosed by mid indigo borders of meandering floral vines, 298cm by 1000cm Bessarabian rugs and carpets were made in villages in the late 19th and early 20th centuries when the area was part of the Ottoman Empire. Bessarabian weavings are usually in flatweave (kilim) technique and employ a soft wool. They were never made in large numbers and few have survived.
