A BOER WAR DESK SET. A Boer War scene Desk Set, consisting of an officer with binoculars and a soldier at ready. Inkwell consists of a crouching soldier behind a rock, hat off and spying out the land. W T & S also regd marks to the bases T2430. See Illustration £400-600

A19thC IVORY HANDLED KRIS A carved ivory Garuda bird hilt, with ornate circular mount. Wavy edged watered steel blade of good quality, 15.1/4" in length. Wooden scabbard with growth and biwood markings. £100-200

A GUN CASE. A leather Leg of Mutton guncase with provision for a double barrelled shotgun of 30" barrel length. Brass oil bottle under the flap. £50-80

A SWORDSTICK. A European Swordstick with blue and gilt decorated 27" blade. Single-edged with 3/4 length fuller, foilage patterns etc. Silver bands to the hilt and wooden scabbard. £100-150

A CONCEALED KATAR DAGGER. An 18th/19thC Katar dagger of classical form, concealed inside an outer case in the form of a larger Katar dagger. Silver decoration to the guards and blade throat, 7.1/4" blade and 15.1/4" overall length. The outer case is similarly decorated, 16.1/2" overall length. £100-200

A CAVALRY RIFLE CASE Brown leather rifle Bucket or case for the bolt action carbines or short rifles, used by GB Cavalry 1900-1920's. Saddle strap and tie-down strap affixed, only marking appears to be 1.36" overall length, endcap is loose but present. £200-300

A 1796 VARIANT LIGHT CAVALRY SWORD. Blue and Gilt 30" blade with clipped tip, Crown and GR cypher also foilage decoration. Steel stirrup hilt with rounded pommel backstrap and steel furniture to the leather scabbard. Marked on the plate as S Brunn. Sword Cutler to his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. A KATANA. An unsigned Japanese Katana in Shin Gunto mounts. 21" blade with some staining evident, in a steel saya. £300-400

A 12B SHOTGUN & CASE. A 12b boxlock non-ejector shotgun, with E M Reilly. London on the top rib. 28" barrels with traces of case hardening on the action, numbered 144939. In a webbing case with removable leather shoulder pad, cleaning equipment etc.

A FIREMANS HELMET. A 19thC leather Fire Man's helmet in need of repair/renovation, contained in a Japanned tin. The peak has detached from the crested skull, due to age. £40-60

A CIVILIAN KATANA. A Katana in civilian mounts with iron tsuba, matching fuchi and kashira also saya mount. Blade heavily stained and has nicks out of the edge. The handachi-koshirae is signed Hikata Tarobe-Jo Kiyonobu saku. A smith of this name is recorded as working at Osaka C1661. The blade is 66.5cm in length, the fittings have gold decoration and rusting to some areas on the mounts. £200-300

11th BATTN 'DEVONS' BASS DRUM. A 11th Battalion the Devonshire Regiment Bass Drum with cords and painted decoration. A Royal Coat of Arms with XI in a wreath below. Battle Honours include Nivelle etc. In dark colours of green and black finish, measuring 21.25" width and 30.75" diameter. £200-300

A 19thC SIDEARM. A brass stirrup hilted Constabulary sidearm, C1850 complete with brass mounted leather scabbard. 22.5" clean curved spearpoint blade, with no visible markings. £80-120

A HEAVY MACHINE GUN ON STAND. A Vickers .303 Pattern smooth water jacket contained barrel, with heavy metal tripod and various fixings. De-Activated some years ago, the original certificate is present. 35" high by 60" long from muzzle to stand feet. Chinese character marked plate affixed to side case. £500-700

A KATANA. A Katana in civilian mounts with iron tsuba and wooden saya. Signed with a Showa stamp then, Aso-Shu/no-Ju/Fuku-Moto/Kane-Mune. The translation roughly is Made by-Kane-Mune-living at Seki-in Mino province. The smith does not appear to be recorded. Faded blue bindings with plain Fuchi and Kashira, lightly engraved leaf patterns on the tsuba. Plain black lacquer on the saya, brass habaki. 25.1/2" curved blade with some light staining in places. £500-600

A KATANA. A Japanese Katana with polished or plated blade of 67.5cm. In Showa mounts with blue/brown sword knot, the tang unsigned with two mekugi-ana. Steel scabbard with leather outer cover. £150-200

CASED BINOCULARS (Sir J C E SHELLEY) Sir John Courtown Edward Shelley-Rolls 6th Bt was a Baronet of the famous Shelley family and assumed the additional -Rolls to his surname later in life (1917). Educated at Wellington College, born 5th August 1871. Commissioned into the Scots Guards he saw action during the South African War. In the Gt War he commanded the 3rd Queens Westminster Cadet Battalion. He married Eleanor Georgina Rolls Daughter of Baron Llangattock (John Allen Rolls) of Rolls - Royce fame. C P Goerz of Berlin marked Binoculars, 12x Army Trieder DRP markings and his name. Brown leather case complete but needs some repair to stitching. £60-80

CASED FLINTLOCK PISTOLS. A pair of cased gentleman's pistols with flintlock actions, by Smith of London. Octagonal 7" barrels, with gold bands also chequered grips and fullstocks with underslung ramrods. Steel furniture with Smith on the actions with roller frizzens, London on the barrel tops. Engraved hammers and actions, some replacement tools are in the case. Label inset in the lid reads, Evans Gunmaker of Trinity Street, Cambridge.
