Noah's Ark Painted Wood & Figures, German, Late 1800's. Classic ark with painted, brick red shaped hull. Main body is decorated in Georgian style with columns, windows, doors and facias in hues of green, buttermilk and chocolate. 25 large animals which include elephants x 2, gazelle, deer, camel, cows x 2, brown bear, dromedary x 3, donkeys x 2, goats x 2 , tigers x 2, pig, lions x 4 and dogs x 2. They vary in style made from composition, paper mache or wood they are covered with hide, burlap, real fur or flock, many have glass eyes. The sides of the ark are slightly sprung, the hinges on the roof are broken, small hole to side, areas rubbed or chipped, figures have parts missing or broken. War Relief Toy Work Noah's Ark, Wooden & Figures, 1930 - 40's. It was commonplace during war periods, in particular the First and Second World Wars, for injured soldiers to create toys to aid their recovery. This is a typical example, made from wood on a flat base with hinged roof. Painted in cream with a green top, stencilled windows and 'War Relief' emblem on the end panel. Storage area holds painted wood figures of Noah, brown bear, calf, horses, camel, lion and ostriches. Stamped on the bottom are the words 'Made in England By Disabled Service Men'. Minor scratching, chips to paintwork and wear to figures but generally Excellent condition. 35cm x 15cm x 13cm (13.75" x 6" x 5.25"). £40-£50

Noah's Ark Wooden Plus Figures British 1900's. Solid example of an early 20th century ark, one of a type made by soldiers recuperating from the 1st World War. Painted in cream with red hinged roof, shaped hull and cathedral style stencil work. Includes pairs of camels, horses, lions, cows, swans, cats plus several singles. Hull has a section and end missing, surface scratching and wear, animals have some rubbing / paint loss. Ark: 75cm x 38cm x 19cm (29.5" x 15" x 7.5"); figures 4cm - 9cm (1.5" - 3.5"). £40-£60

Noah's Ark Wooden And 90+ Figures German Circa 1850's. Shaped hull, overlaid window detailing and sliding door panel produced in the premier region of Erzgebirge of Germany. Mr and Mrs Noah, Ham, Shem, Japeth and their wives, in addition to the quantity of Good quality carved and painted animals which include wildlife, farmyard and domestic creatures, mainly in pairs. The ship has been overpainted in cream, green and dark pink, door panel is loose, animals have parts missing and / or broken. Ark 57cm x 36cm x 40cm. £1000-£1500
