A large British company owning the famous silver mine in the State of Hidalgo employing some 350 Cornishmen. It was they who apparently introduced football to the country. British capital flowed into many South American countries following their Independence from their Spanish conquerors, some 300 or so companies formed during the 1820's alone

Peruvian Transport Corporation Ltd., a large group of certificates comprising Class A shares of $5, 10 shares, blue (28), Class B shares of $1, 5 shares, purple, 25 shares, red, 50 shares, silver (11) and 100 shares, orange (313), all dated 1956, all endorsed by the holder on the reverse thus making them bearer, generally very fine and better. The Company was incorporated in Canada in 1955 to take over the share capital of the Peruvian Corporation which was registered in London in 1890. It was set up to cancel the country's external debt and enable the construction of railways. Name changed in 1958 to Peruvian Investment and Finance Ltd. and was dissolved in May 2003.

Poyais

Poyais, General Mortgage Loan of £200,000, £100 special bond, 1823, no. 603, large format, black and blue printing by Whiting with classic scrollwork design at top, coupons at either side, folds with some minor separation and some foxing, about very fine. £120-150
Poyais, Honduras, was given to Gregor MacGregor by the native ruler in 1820 and MacGregor proceeded to try to settle the land by financial enticements. Several loans were floated on the Stock Exchange to raise money for ships and infrastructure but all eventually failed.
