The Property of H.M.Treasury: A fascinating large group of bonds, all relating to the War debt incurred during the First World War. None of these bonds have previously been seen on the market except a single 'specimen' Exchequer Bond for £100,000 payable to the Russian Government. This 'specimen' piece sold at £1,300 in our sale in 2010. The entire 15 issues totalling 400 bonds are available in this lot! Exchequer Order of Payment, issued under Her Majesty's Letters of Privy-seal 1702 and 1704 for the 'Sale of Her Majesty's Tin', authorising repayment, at 5% interest, the sum of £100, dated 1714, handsigned by Robert Harley, Earl of Oxford, black printing with manuscript insertions, trimmed at bottom as is often the case with such pieces, ragged right edge, fine. £300-400
