A PRISONER OF WAR HAND CARVED OAK BOX 1917. An ornate carved box made by POW Feldweble H Blome, for the son of Dr Captain Charles Davies RAMC (Practised in Canada prior to serving in France as a Doctor in a POW Camp). The heavy oak box is initialed CND on the top and France 1917 on the front. 2 Lt Charles Norman Davies was born in 1900, joined the RFC as a pilot in 1917. He did not get to serve in France, though he qualified in 1918. In WWII he qualified to train pilots flying Link Trainer aeroplanes. With the box are a photo of Dr Charles A Davies in RAMC uniform and signed. Birth Certificate for C N Davies 1900, his Motor Car Licence 16/08/1919-20 in the Borough of Stockport. Two Flying Licences for 1939-41. A 1918 wearing RAF uniform photograph of Pilot Officer C N Davies, another as a child on a pony in Canada. His passport for June 1916 whilst residing in Jersey, renewed in 1920. A signed photograph of his mother, also a family photograph album of life in Teepee's in Canada and other Canadian scenes. The box is made from any wood, metal or bone fragments Feldwebel Blome could find. In return for the medical treatment he and others received from Charles Davies RAMC, whilst interned in France. £80-120

A TRENCH ART 'HAT'. An officers scale hat, with German button Cap Badge and copper band. Marked souvenir from Belgium and Tournai, also stamps for Aug 1917 can be made out on the shell case. Also a glazed and framed set of Cap badge, Collars and photograph of 15589 Pte Edwin George Bryant Somerset LI. Miniature trio and service stripes etc, also a Cunard Line card for the Skirmisher Sept 8th 1918. Cunards SS Co's River Tea Trip for our wounded soldiers. RAF MM RECIPIENTS MEDALS AND OBSERVERS WING. A British War & Victory medal pair named to 15110 Sgt A O A Pollard RAF (Entitled to the MM). An RFC badge and associated silver London to Edinburgh 1920 May 21st-22nd (Sidecar) named to O H H Pollard. A 9ct gold circular case locket with RFC wings decoration, inside are photos of Sgt Otto Pollard.MM. Otto Pollard joined the Royal Flying Corps as an NCO observer in 1915. Awarded the Military Medal whilst with 18 Squadron, 27th June 1918. Later became a Pilot in the RAF. Otto Pollard died aged 86 in October 1983. £150-250

His original cloth pilots wings, also a pair of 9ct Gold/Enamel RAF sweethearts wings. His miniature group of six medals, 1939/45 Star & Battle Of Britain bar, Air Crew Europe Star bar Atlantic, Africa Star, Defence & War medals, Air Efficiency award. A Battle of Britain commemorative tie. Partial award slip shows entitlement to awards as per miniatures, except for the Defence Medal. His Logbooks are at the RAF Museum. Hendon. London. Aged 21 Sgt Dunkley was interred in Les Barraques Military Cemetery. Sangatte. The son of William and Mary Anne Dunkley of 5 Oliver Street. Northampton. The cemetery is in the Pas De Calias area of France. Photographs of Sgt Dunkley and his remembrance card and framed Roll Call scroll etc, from the Mayor of Northampton. A DEATH PLAQUE etc TO PTE A HAWKER R. BERKS. A Death Plaque and framed memorial scroll awarded to Pte Albert Hawker, also a framed and named Lord Mayor of Bristol scroll to Pte Hawker. The latter scroll states Albert Henry Hawker, to avoid some confusion. Two Albert Hawker's, were killed aged 20 years old, in the Berkshire Regt. One Albert Edward the other Albert Henry Hawker.Pte 203408 Albert Henry Hawker 5th Battn of the Berkshires was the son of Albert & Florence Hawker of 56 College Street, College Green, Bristol. He is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial. A framed R Berkshire Regt embroidery. £70-100
