| RFC interest the highly desirable presentation cigarette case in hallmarked silverbelieved to have been given to Captain James T.B.McCudden VC DSO & Bar MC & BarMM French Croix de Guerre. Case is hallmarked 1918, it has RFC engraved on the frontin same style as the cap badge and is engraved "To Captain J.B.McCudden DSO MC MMRFC" on one inside panel and "On being awarded the Victoria Cross 2 April 1918" onthe other, this was the day after the birth of the new RAF. McCudden was third rankedof the British Aces but very little doubt surrounds his claims which finished at 57victories, 42 known completely destroyed and 19 crashed in Allied lines. He collectedfrom the King his VC DSO & Bar & MC & Bar all at the same time whilst on leave. Hepestered though to be allowed to return to action and was given command of 60Squadron but whilst on his way he sadly crashed at Auxi-le-Chateau when his enginestalled. His medals are at the RE Museum in Chatham. £800 - £850 |

Josif wasordered out on patrol with his section during the course of which he noticed four'Hitlerites' hidden in bushes, he immediately attacked the enemy killing two, woundinga third and taking the 4th prisoner.
