| Captain James Douglas Standen MC 1/10 J.A.T.S. Regt, Indian Army. Group mounted inoriginal frame Military Cross unnamed as issued, 1915 Star Trio + MID, and IGS GV withWaziristan 1921-24 clasp. All medals to the rank of Captain. With matching framedMiniatures group. He was MID twice 9th March 1919, and 31st Oct 1920. This officerwas Murdered by a Sepoy, announced 22nd December 1923 on field service at Jandolain the North West Frontier. Son of the late Major James Douglas Standen of the RoyalIrish Fusiliers, and Grandson of the late Lieut-General Douglas Standon of the MadrasStaff Corps. He was educated at Elizabeth College, Guernsey, passing to Sandhurst in1908. In 1910 he was attached to the R.W.Kent Regt in India. During the Great War heserved in the Tochi on the N.W.Frontier, Mesopotamia, Salonika, on the Black Sea andin Asia Minior. MC L/G 14/2/1921. Lot includes original MID Certificates x2, newspapercuttings and copy photos as supplied by the family. A superb and interesting lot. GVF £1000 - £1200 |
