1914-15 star trio & plaque framed to 15209 Pte Frank Robinson York R withphotograph supplied by family member and well researched, also a watch and otheremotive pieces relating to him. Frank Robinson of 7 Richmond Street Layerthorpe, Yorkenlisted in September 1914 before proceeding to Gallipoli where he was wounded inthe hip. He recovered at Cairo hospital and was twice operated on for pieces ofshrapnel to be removed. After ten days leave he rejoined his regiment in France on18th Feb 1916 and took part in much severe fighting which he related in letters home.He was KIA 14th April 1916 and is buried in Tranchee De Mecknes Cemetery not farfrom Arras, He worked for Rowntrees before the war. The watch & a Put & Take gameplayer with attached label "returned after his death". He served in the 6th & 8th Bns,comes with newspaper obituary relating to his pre war life, his mother was a widow, hisservice and death, polished, GVF+

Listed on the La Ferte Sous Jouarra Memorial. Son of the Rev Canon D Ingles ofWitham, Essex. Served Boer War. Commissioned 12/3/1892. Member of the YorkshireGentlemen's Cricket Club. To France 9/9/1914 with 1st W. York Regt. The Germanstreacherously advanced under cover of the white flag, with stretchers under whichmachine guns were hidden, and opened fire. Major Ingles called out "All who will notsurrender, follow me!" and was shot whilst leading those who responded. Ingles andhis men were buried where they fell. Lot includes a copied photo of Ingles taken from"The Sphere". Comes with research. Born Apsley End, Herts. Medals and plaque inoriginal cases but these are fragile. (4)
