x 1921 "nine pies" on 1a., a specialised study of this interesting issue, which also incorporates a section devoted to the basic unsurcharged 1a., which includes booklet panes, Service, Convention States and C.E.F. overprints with a few varieties. The surcharges include many examples of the "nine nine" and "pies pies" errors mostly in multiples, surcharge double mint and used, booklets with six complete, minor varieties with many multiples, the use of the stamp on cover with registered mail, stationery, rate and special cancellations, Convention States with a few varieties and, in conclusion, a valuable reference section with forged, bogus, dubious and clandestine items. Printing (cut-to-shape) on two sides, clearly cancelled with diamond of dots and tied by French entry c.d.s. in red, showing two firm's cachets, framed "india paid" and German c.d.s., all on face, two part transit c.d.s. on reverse; an interesting routing paid only as far the Austrian P.O. at Alexandria, thence Bearing and paid in cash by the recipient. Another adhesive and part of the entire cut away, nevertheless possibly the only known example of this usage and routing. Photo £300-400
