A fascinating archive, the postcard sized photo's are all copies of originals and cover the period from 1880's-1960's all in black and white it is understood that the collection was put together by the grandson of Alfred Fossett who features in the collection of over 1,600 images. The majority of the images have a typed strip to the reverse identifying the scene, ride, engine or figure together with a reference number. J Mellor appears often as 'photo by...'. An extraordinary and comprehensive archive of a fast disappearing world. |
