1261
1949 1000cc Vincent Rapide C
Reg. No. MHN 698
Frame No. RC4260
Engine No. F10AB/1/2360
According to the VOC records this Rapide was despatched to a Newcastle dealer in October 1949, a Darlington registration number was issued and the continuation logbook would seem to prove that MHN 698 never left the North East until at least the late 1970's. Both of the recorded owners in the period 1961-1977 were resident in Northumberland and it would appear that they are the only recorded owners prior to the present custodian. In the history file is a purchase receipt dated March 1963 from Cowies of Newcastle for the sum of £40, how times have changed! Copious notes and receipts from Harper Engines Ltd and Vincent Engineering are present and require close reading, they would seem to indicate that extensive work was carried out to the engine by Harpers in the early 1960's. Other notes written by the former owner show that it was MOT'd every year from 1963 - 1981 and just 3,546 miles were stated to have been covered in that period. Other notes in the file relating to the changing of the speedo would indicate that there may be less than 20,000 miles on the engine, this will require some further research by the new owner. The front forks are presented with bare alloy blades and Borani rims are fitted, again there is an indication in the notes that these have been fitted for most of the bikes life. A stainless steel exhaust is in place but otherwise the engine and frame appear in un-restored condition and the vendor informs us that the engine 'runs like a watch' once warmed up, certainly the last eight years of ownership has seen very little use from its mature owner and the Rapide C is now ready for a fresh custodian. MOT exempt and furnished with road tax valid until August 2013, a sound matching numbers machine that is an all too rare commodity especially in its unrestored, honest condition. V5C documentation supplied.
Estimate: £26,000 - £29,000
1262
1960 600cc Norton Dominator 99
Reg. No. 733 YMF
Frame No. R14 87996
Engine No. N14 79039
This handsome red and grey example of the 99 carries a slightly earlier 1958 engine of the correct type in the iconic slim-line Featherbed frame and the twin leading shoe ventilated front drum sets the Road Holder sprung front end off very well indeed. In the current ownership for 11 years the Norton has been seldom used and forms part of a good collection that the owner has decided to now part with, kept in good fettle the duty free road tax and MOT will have expired by the time of sale but, hopefully, the sun will come out again and the new custodian can look forward to reminding the 'Dommie' what it was built for. Supplied with current V5 documentation.
Estimate: £5,000 - £6,000
1263
1958 500cc Triumph Tiger 100
Reg. No. YPT 270
Frame No. 21H 2708
Engine No. T100SS H41753
The frame and engine numbers on this sporty little Triumph indicate a 1958 '21' frame housing a 1966 T100SS alloy head engine. Wearing a semi bathtub body and equipped with high level exhausts, the Triumph is presentable and useable but ideally could do with some tidying, this would produce a potentially very nice bike indeed. Currently forming part of a private collection, the Tigers MOT will have expired by the time of sale but current V5 documentation is supplied.
Estimate: £2,300 - £3,000
1264
1960 650cc Triumph 6T Thunderbird
Reg. No. 430 YMK
Frame No. 2334C
Engine No. 6TD2334C
This matching numbers Thunderbird was previously owned by a friend of the vendor who never actually possessed a motorcycle license and purely had it to look at. At some point in time he had asked the current owner to have a general look over and fettle of the 6T and it duly was brought round to his house where it remained ever after, eventually changing hands officially. The pre-unit Triumph wears its original steel bathtub rear enclosure, so many were junked in period as a victim of fashion that original tinware is becoming scarce. Handsomely finished in grey and with 58,607 recorded miles, the 6T has not been used in anger on the road for a while, the last MOT having expired in September 2011, a very presentable example that sounds fabulous and is offered for sale with current V5 documentation.
Estimate: £4,700 - £5,500
1265
1959 98cc James Comet
Reg. No. GFO 443
Frame No. M11473
Engine No. 797 16781
The dainty little Comet has been restored and just requires the lighting system to have the wiring completed. The vendor informs us that he has owned it for 10 years and the clutch was refurbished and set up by Villiers, he expects it to be running by the time of sale. Still bearing the original suppliers plate for St Andrews Motors, Gallowgate, Newcastle Upon Tyne this is a very fine show ring machine that is complete with V5C documentation.
Estimate: £1,000 - £1,300

1952 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet G2 Trials
Reg. No. N/A
Frame No. 12-59
Engine No. G2/28186
Part of a private collection the Bullet Trials has never been road registered but has competed successfully in recent years in twin shock trials events. Unused for a while but regularly turned over and occasionally ridden around the yard, this is a proper trials machine right down to the quick neutral select gearbox and fibre glass tank. The vendor states that the bike runs superbly but will require a new rear tyre. Offered for sale without documentation.
Estimate: £2,300 - £3,000

1268
Apache 100cc Quad bike.
With a recent starter motor overhaul this quad is stated to go like brown material off a soil redistribution device, proven when the vendor caught his 18stone mechanic sending rooster tails of dirt from the back wheels whilst tearing around his yard. Sold as a recreational vehicle with no documentation.
Estimate: £350 - £450
1269

1966 650cc Triumph Bonneville T120 TT Special
Reg. No. OGU 435D
Frame No. T120TT DU46167
Engine No. T120TT DU46167
This particular example of Triumphs firebreathing TT Special left the Meriden works on 22nd September 1966 and was supplied to the Triumph Corporation Baltimore USA, an accompanying letter from the Triumph Owners Club records the specific entry in the factory despatch book. The 650cc Triumph T120TT was first produced by Triumph Meriden in 1963 in answer to a call from the US for a competition machine suitable for flat track and desert racing. The T120TT was produced for export only and continued in production until 1967, the 'make it light, make it fast' remit led to a fiery specification including low level open exhausts, big carb's, wild cams, 11.2: 1 compression and a specially ported head. OGU 435D was re-patriated in 2009 and restored in the minimalist factory spec' with no speedo or lights and those signature open exhausts with the year correct colour scheme of white with orange highlights and the improved folding footrests. A matching numbers machine in fantastic order that has covered less than 1,000 miles since completion. The last MOT expired in October 2011 and the TT Special is consigned from a private collection in order to fund other projects. V5C supplied.
Estimate: £9,000 - £10,000

1966 (see text) 350cc Triumph 3TA
Reg. No. KVG 713G
Frame No. 3TA H45709
Engine No. 3TA H45709
Finished in blue and apparently completely original and unrestored, the accompanying document from the Science Museum Library shows that this 3TA was assembled on 20th May 1966 and despatched to Kings Motors Ltd Norwich on 1st June 1966, clearly bike sales were slow as it was not registered until 1969. In the current family ownership since 1985 and seldom used as testified by the lowly 28,652 recorded miles, supplied with current MOT valid until June 2013 and V5C documentation, a good unmolested example.
Estimate: £2,000 - £3,000
1272
1950 500cc Ariel VH Red Hunter
Reg. No. KMU 259
Frame No. AB282
Engine No. MN178
This example of the OHV Red Hunter appears to have spent most of its life hidden away. The current owner states that he has owned it since 1980 but has never started or used it, he also believes the former owner never used it either. On inspection the engine turned over on the kickstart and demonstrated a good degree of compression. With rigid rear end and telescopic front forks this is a very desirable machine in a very desirable condition appearing majorly original. Whilst the plating and paint could be deemed to require attention it maybe preferable to leave as is.
Estimate: £2,000 - £2,500
1273
1961 650cc Triumph Tiger 110
Reg. No. 868 PTU
Frame No. D12336
Engine No. T110 D12336
This handsome black and white example was restored by the previous owner during 2005/6 with receipts for over £3,000 supplied covering new exhaust system, engine rebuild inc' high comp' pistons, new wheel rims, stainless spokes etc. The frame has been powder coated and the current owner states that he has fitted a new dual seat, gear lever and kickstart rubbers, fuel cap, tank badges, parcel rack, fuel taps, knee grips, new front tyre, battery etc etc. The paintwork has been professionally carried out resulting in a bike to be proud of. The mature owner has decided that his riding days are now over and the reluctant sale yields V5 documentation and a current MOT certificate valid until October 2013.
Estimate: £5,000 - £6,500
1274

1970's built Hagon Matchless Grasstrack bike
Reg. No. N/A
Frame No. 01-5398416
Engine No. None found
The vendor relates that he found the bike in a garage in the South East of England but there was no history available. It was subsequently tidied up and turned over but has never been used, although we are informed that a spark is evident. The AJS timing cover fitted is incorrect and a bit of research is clearly called for into this tidy looking racer, along with some Castrol R and Methanol! No documentation supplied.
Estimate: £1,000 - £1,500
1276

Chassis No.104053
Engine No.1504753
Handsomely finished in grey over black this 4cylinder 4 seat tourer bears its original Exeter issued registration number UO 100. The accompanying buff logbook indeed shows the first owner in 1926 being one Edgar Moffat Elwell, East Riddiford, Winkleigh, Devon who was a noted industrialist of his day. The next owner appears in 1933 as Cherry & Symes Engineers, Crediton and there may well be a connection with the original owner. 1964 saw Ian Martin of Bideford as owner and he hung on to the car until 1978 when the Buick made a move to Canvey Island in Essex, apparently its first time outside Devon. Now presented in fully restored condition and with an accompanying file demonstrating the work carried out via photos and invoices, UO 100 has clearly been well loved and has taken prizes at shows and rallies in its current Scottish home. Offered for sale with current V5 documentation and history file as well as the original buff logbook.
