| 1888 (17 Aug.) letter from the Inland Revenue office in Manchester relating to the "further extension of the over-embossed system of stamping as adopted by Liverpool", the letter with two pages of notes attached to three essays for overprinting and accompanied by three pieces of vellum bearing various embossed dies in pale blue with various hand-drawn or printed "liverpool" over-stamping devices, a large sheet bearing thirty embossed dies in pale blue for values between 2d. and £10, each overprinted "specimen" with a note for eleven values for Liverpool which are not represented, and a piece of Inland Revenue embossed paper bearing 1d. pale blue overprinted "specimen" with Birmingham overprint in red.
