An Army Officers sword (Gunto-Katana) 26,1/2 ins blade in good condition bearing probable mark of the Seki Arsenal, brass habaki, deep decorated seppa, heavy brass decorated tsuba, gold ito over same with brass menuki and kashira in brown painted metal scabbard and standard military issue mounts, signed by Kojima Katsumasa from Seki Province. An Imperial japanese Naval Officers sword (Kai-Gunto), 26 ins blade, “silvered” habaki, “Rising Sun” decoration to tsuba, gold green ito and black same, brass menuki and kashira, in dark brown saya with standard naval fittings. The blade is in good condition bearing a stamp probably from Toyokawa naval arsenal together with authentication mark and signed Inaba Kaneyoshi, a contractor for the Japanese Navy. Estimate £800 - £1000

A Japanese army NCO’s issue sword (Gunto-Katana) with 27,1/2 ins fullered blade, brass habaki, typical all metal tsuka painted to imitate the binding on an Officers hilt which appears to bear the marks of the Tokyo arsenals.NCO swords had leather sword knots, this gold and blue tassel is thought to be an Officers. Estimate £400 - £600
